Strategic vision

Where Bahari
BlueTech is going.

We are not waiting for the maritime industry to arrive in Africa. We are building the engineering infrastructure, technical credibility, and intellectual property to lead it.

Phase by phase

The strategic
journey to 2030.

Core ambition
To become the most technically credible marine engineering firm originating from East Africa — competing for global innovation awards, leading on deep sea mineral governance, and building the vessels that feed the continent.
2025 Phase 01 Active now
Foundation — Design Studio & Market Entry
  • Launch marine design consultancy: vessel CAD, aquaculture layouts, technical reports
  • Acquire first 3D fabrication unit; produce physical models for client pitches and regulatory submissions
  • Establish institutional digital presence and sector authority online — positioning as East Africa's leading marine engineering voice
  • Engage Go Blue (UNEP/EU), coastal county governments, and fishing cooperatives in initial advisory and design partnerships
  • Apply to OceanHub Africa Acceleration Programme and Kenya Blue Economy trust fund instruments
  • Complete first ISA-aligned deep sea mining policy brief and distribute to Kenya Ministry of Mining, KRIOA, and international partners
2026–27 Phase 02 Upcoming
Growth — First Vessel Build & Grant Capital
  • Complete first fiberglass fishing vessel prototype in partnership with a coastal cooperative — documented end-to-end as a replicable build methodology
  • Apply to BlueInvest Africa (EU) and UNDP MineTech Accelerator programmes; secure first formal grant capital
  • Publish ISA deep sea mining policy paper on African EEZ state positioning in seabed governance negotiations
  • Develop proprietary vessel design series (12m, 16m, 22m) with integrated vessel tracking and AIS compliance
  • Establish formal fabrication workshop and open commercial build contracts to fishing cooperatives and county governments
  • Complete first IMTA aquaculture system design and installation for a partner aquaculture operator
2028–30 Phase 03 Upcoming
Scale — IP, Awards & Regional Reach
  • Register and license Bahari BlueTech vessel design IP across East African Community member states
  • Compete for Ocean Exchange, African Innovation Challenge, and global marine engineering awards — establishing international technical credibility
  • Establish Bahari BlueTech as the foremost African technical voice on ISA deep sea mining governance at UN-level negotiations
  • Expand advisory operations regionally: Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, and SADC maritime zone states
  • Launch seed funding round targeting EU blue economy funds, impact investment capital, and AfDB blue economy programme instruments
  • Deliver first fully operational ROV prototype; conduct commercial inspection and survey contracts in Kenya EEZ
2030+ Phase 04 Horizon
Leadership — Continental Blue Economy Institution
  • Operate as a continent-wide marine engineering design and consultancy firm with offices in Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, and Maputo
  • Manage the first Africa-led, Africa-built, Africa-governed deep sea mineral extraction pilot in partnership with EAC member states
  • Run the Bahari BlueTech Academy: a formal marine engineering training programme producing the next generation of African ocean engineers
  • Operate a fleet of proprietary ROVs serving commercial inspection, research, and conservation contracts across the western Indian Ocean
  • Lead the African bloc negotiating position at ISA sessions on technology transfer, benefit sharing, and continental shelf extension rights
Currently seeking

Why now

The window
is open.

Several converging forces are creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity for an African marine engineering firm to seize continental leadership.

Driver 01
Blue Economy Funding Surge
The EU, World Bank, and UNDP have collectively committed over $4.5 billion to African blue economy programmes through 2030. The grant landscape has never been more favourable for technically credible African marine firms.
Driver 02
ISA Regulatory Window
The International Seabed Authority is finalising its Mining Code now. African nations that build technical expertise and governance credibility in this window will shape the rules — those that don't will be governed by rules set by others.
Driver 03
Fishery Modernisation Demand
Kenya's coastal fishing fleet is ageing rapidly. County governments and fishing cooperatives are actively seeking modern, locally designed and built vessels — a demand Bahari BlueTech is uniquely positioned to meet.

Be part of the
journey.

Whether you're a funder, a partner, a government body, or an operator — there is a role for you in Africa's ocean engineering future.
